The Bluetooth thermometer integration is designed to streamline data collection for field users while ensuring high data integrity for administrators. This article covers how the feature is activated and how it interacts with your existing checklist configurations.
Activation & Enablement
The Bluetooth integration is an account-level feature that is enabled for your organization by your Account Manager or the Product Support team.
Automatic Implementation: Once the feature is enabled for your organization, the Bluetooth connection interface will automatically appear on all existing and new Temperature-type questions.
Requesting Access: If you do not see the "Connect" option in the IntouchCheck app, please contact your Account Manager or Product Support to have the integration activated for your organization.
Impact on Checklist Settings
When Bluetooth is active, the app's behaviour adjusts to prioritize the accuracy of the hardware reading. As an administrator, keep the following in mind:
1. Unit of Measure Overrides
In your question settings, you can still define a default unit (Fahrenheit or Celsius). However, the thermometer is the "source of truth." If a thermometer is set to Celsius, it will transmit a Celsius reading to the app and lock that unit for that specific response, even if your checklist setting is Fahrenheit. This prevents conversion errors and ensures the digital record matches the physical device display.
2. Mandatory Responses & Photos
The Bluetooth integration respects all existing question settings:
Photo Requirements: If a photo is required, the user must still capture one after accepting the Bluetooth reading.
Comments: If comments are mandatory, the user will still be prompted to provide them before completing the question.
3. Audit Readiness
Every temperature captured via Bluetooth automatically collects the hardware's unique serial number in the background. You do not need to create a separate field to track which thermometer was used; this data is automatically attached to the response metadata for your reports.
Admin FAQ
Do I need to update my current checklists? No. Every question currently set to the "Temperature" type will automatically support Bluetooth once the account-level integration is activated.
Can I turn Bluetooth off for just one specific checklist? Currently, the integration is an "all-on" or "all-off" setting for the Temperature question type across your entire organization.
